ACTING PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE | Mr Scott Thompson

What a year it has been! I would like to sincerely thank the Currimundi School Community for welcoming me and being so hard working and committed to our Curra kids. We have such a great feeling in our school, which is noticed the minute you step through our gate.
Thank you to our hardworking P&C, our dedicated School Council, and our army of creative, giving volunteers.
A huge thank you also needs to go out to the hard-working staff here at Currimundi. They are committed to giving our students the best they can and continually go above and beyond what is expected of a teacher.
Our school is growing and we have put in some exciting initiatives this year, which we are looking to build on in 2024. This really is a great school to be involved with.
Thanks to our whole community, you help to make it what it is.
Our Christmas concert is going to be again brilliant; staff are already planning madly on decorating and have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to make the evening a success. I will not name them for fear of missing someone out.
Farewell Year 06
I want to take this opportunity to farewell our year six students who will leave us for high school next year. They have been great role models in our school. As individuals and as a group the school, their families and they can be very, very proud of their conduct, how they have grown and behaved this year.
I wish them every success at high school in 2024 and want them to know that they are more than welcome to drop in for a visit and let us know how they are going.
2024 Leaders
Our School Leaders for next year have been selected and I cannot wait to work with them. Our leadership selection policy is working well and all candidates were of the highest calibre. They all strike me as being responsible, caring and hard working. I am very much looking forward to watching them grow in 2024. We will announce the successful applicants at our whole school year 06 parade on Monday 04 December 2023.
2024 Classes
Your children will know their classes next Wednesday when we will have a transition meet your teacher and class afternoon. As a state school our class numbers are highly reliant on day 8 numbers, while we would like to say classes will not change there is always the possibility early in 2024, they may. We are very much aware of student wellbeing and the learning needs for your children to be successful here at Currimundi. We will endeavour to make what we feel is the best decision in regards to classes to set your child up for success. Please do not call the office requesting class changes as you can understand this is a highly complicated and time-consuming process.
2024 Focus
Our Explicit Improvement Agenda for 2024 is to enhance staff capabilities in inclusive differentiation and pedagogical strategies, empowering Currimundi students to 'Ride the wave to success’. This will include a Curra way of teaching and a school wide vision statement for inclusion. We will also be focusing on building the data literacy of our amazing teachers to lift student engagement/wellbeing and performance, maximising learning through equity and excellence.
2024 promises to be an exciting year.
Thankyou all for a magic 2023, have a great break, a merry Christmas, be safe and have fun. See you all back here ready to rumble Monday 22 January 2024.
Kind Regard

Regards,
Scott Thompson

Deputy Principal | Prep – Yr 02 | Mrs Tina Houtsma

I can’t believe I am saying, “we are coming to the end of the 2023 school year with only one week to go’!
As we approach the close of the 2023 school year, with just one week left, I am filled with a sense of pride and amazement at what we have accomplished together.
Our students have demonstrated remarkable resilience and focus, especially in these final weeks. They have diligently completed assessments, engaged in projects, and delivered impressive oral presentations. Their commitment to academic and personal growth is commendable, and it's heartening to see how each student has evolved over the year. Let's take a moment to celebrate their achievements – in the classroom, on the sports field, and in building meaningful relationships.
Prep Transition Morning
Our future 2024 Prep students had a fantastic introduction to our school community last week. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and it was a delight to welcome them and their families. The morning was filled with engaging activities, introducing them to our dedicated prep teaching team. We hope the keepsake book provided a memorable glimpse into life at our school.
Christmas Concert
Our 2023 Christmas Concert was a resounding success, marked by the largest turnout in years. Despite the heat, the festive spirit shone brightly. The students were splendid in their festive attire, and their performances were nothing short of spectacular. We hope you enjoyed these moments as much as we did.
Thank You
Our heartfelt thanks go out to our parent and carer community for your unwavering support. The Volunteer Appreciation Afternoon Tea and Special Parade were just small tokens of our immense gratitude. A special congratulations to our Volunteers of the Year, Vera Green and Chris Perry.
Happy Holidays
As we wind down, I extend my gratitude to every member of our school community. Your collective efforts make Currimundi a truly special place. Our students, parents and carers, volunteers, QuoCKa, Story Dogs, RI instructors, P&C, and staff – thank you for your dedication and spirit.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year. We eagerly anticipate the return of our students in 2024, ready for another year of growth and learning.
Kind Regard

YMCA OSHC NEWS

The exciting things we have done…Never a Dull Minute!
As creativity saw a spike in November, the quiet room has now become our most popular activity. There are many new artistic ventures seen in the program every week , including great influence from the children themselves.
We have made the most of the last of our art equipment using paints, paddle pop sticks, string, marbles and clay to create our artworks. Some have started knitting using paddle pop sticks as a loom, others have made animals of clay to create stories and short films, or using string, marbles, paints, and brushes to enhance our art designs.
Outside at sport, we have started using new equipment such as backyard swing tennis. Also, we are using ideas from school to play games of kick tennis, volleyball, touch, basketball H.O.R.S.E, netball, wink murder and many others to improve the role children play in their own health and wellbeing.
Using our days of QUEST football training, the boys have drastically improved their soccer skills and hope to play a big tournament at the end of term. Us, the staff, are hoping we can give them a run for our money as we have been secretly training as well!
We have noticed our seniors, moving forward into next year, have developed the initiative to help around the service whether it be teaching a child how to play a game or helping educators with the roles and responsibilities of the day. We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of these children, and are happy to see the future they may hold on our little service.

2023/2024 SUMMER HOLIDAY PROGRAM
We have a great summer holiday program for your child to join. Please click on the link for all the details or have a quick look at what we have to offer each day. Please be aware of the days that we will be CLOSED.
