PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE | Ms Jillian Pass

As the end of Semester 1 rapidly approaches, there is still plenty of our school calendar events to keep us engaged and active. It’s always great when our planned Athletics days go ahead ‘as planned’! At present we have perfect winter weather and the oval is not affected by too much rain as has happened so many times in past years. All parents are welcome to come along Thursday and/or Friday this week to watch the events. P&C will be operating a BBQ for parent purchase on Thursday and a coffee van will be on site both days.
Report cards- Parent/teacher interviews
Our teaching staff and students have been spending many hours outside of class time and over weekends completing each student’s semester 1 report card. These reports are a comprehensive account of how your child is progressing against the expectation of the Australian Curriculum.
Report cards will be emailed home on Tuesday 18 June.
Parent teacher interviews will be offered during the second week of term 3 Monday 15 July – Friday 19 July 2024. Bookings will be opened on Thursday 20 June 2024 (just before holidays). For any staff on leave during this time a separate letter detailing an alternative time Details and booking information will be sent with report cards.
School Uniforms
Thank you to all families who ensure students are in full school uniform each day. As the weather begins to get cooler this term, it is important that all students continue to wear the correct uniform. We are fortunate to have excellent support from our parents in ensuring students are in full school uniform each day.
During the winter months, students are permitted to wear black tracksuit pants and a (bottle) green school jacket or (bottle) green coloured jumper.
Thank you for following our Student Dress Code and only wearing the following winter uniform to school.
Currimundi State School is committed in our efforts to provide quality education for all our students. Thank you to Currimundi State School’s dedicated teachers, quality learning activities and strong wider community partnerships like our amazing P&C for supporting our school priorities.
We wish all our families a safe and enjoyable June break.
School returns and term 3 begins on Monday 8 July.

As we approach the end of Term 2, it's incredible to reflect on the growth and achievements of our students over the past weeks. This term has been packed with engaging activities and significant milestones for our Prep to Year 02 students. Our classrooms have been buzzing with the energy and enthusiasm of students committed to their learning journeys.
With assessment tasks nearly complete, I want to commend our students for their hard work and perseverance. It's been a busy term, and the support from home has been invaluable in helping our young learners thrive. As we wrap up the term, let's continue to encourage our children to finish strong and enjoy the well-deserved break ahead.
Year 01 Fire Ed Visit
Fire Ed will be visiting our Year 01 students on Monday 17 June to discuss fire safety. After the informative session, our students will have the opportunity to closely observe their equipment and even engage in some hands-on experience, possibly getting the chance to squirt some water!
Prep 2025
Starting school is an exciting time for students and parents/carers. The first step is to determine when your child can commence. Use the online calculator to see when your child can start Prep. Simply select your child's month and year of birth.
Pre-Prep Transition Program
We have a busy term ahead with a few opportunities for Pre-Preps to come along and join in some of our activities.
I have already commenced conducting regular school tours for families interested in enrolling or learning more about what our friendly little school by the beach can offer their child. It's been a pleasure to meet many of our future families, and I'm looking forward to the next two tours scheduled for this term. I am eager to meet all prospective parents/carers. Bookings are now open.

Let's work together to support our students in achieving their best during this busy term. Your cooperation and understanding are invaluable in fostering an environment where every child can thrive.
Kind Regards

Semester One Report Cards
As we approach the end of Semester 1, teachers are very busy finalising assessment. At the same time, our students are very busy completing assessment items and demonstrating how much they have learned this year so far. At Currimundi State School, our teachers are highly capable, dedicated and hardworking. We certainly appreciate the great work they do in classrooms every day and how hard they are working right now preparing report cards.
Please take the time to thank your child‘s / children‘s class teacher/s this week for the great work they have done throughout this semester to ensure students are actively engaged and learning to their fullest potential.

What do the A-E standards really mean?
Did you realise that a ‘C’ on a report means that your child is achieving AT year level expectations? A ‘B‘ or an ‘A‘ indicates deep knowledge and understanding of the subject and content and an ability to apply their learning flexibly in new or less familiar contexts.

Correct Email Address
We will be emailing report cards directly to parents/carers who have an email address registered with us in the system. Semester 1 report cards will be emailed to parents/carers on Tuesday 18 June. Please ensure the office has your latest and correct email address. The reporting database will automatically email the reports based on the information provided to our office staff. You can update your email address, as well as any other details, by emailing admin@currimundiss.eq.edu.au or by phoning our Office staff on 07 5436 6888. Should you not receive your Semester 1 report card, please check your junk folder.

Parent Teacher Interviews Term 3
As part of our school’s commitment to effective reporting, we are also offering the opportunity for parents/carers and teachers to meet to ‘Unpack the Report Card’. Details and booking information will be sent with your child’s report card. Please read the letter carefully as it will let you know when bookings will open and how to book.
Kind Regards
Jodie Findlay

Undefeated Ospreys! | 2nd Place Overall

On Tuesday 21st May, 11 students in Yr 05 and Yr06 played in the South-East Queensland football competition.
We started our day against Mooloolaba with a 1-1 draw, Zaidyn scoring a screamer.
Next we took on Mountain Creek with a 2-1 win thanks to 2 goals from Sam including one that went in the top corner.
The following game was a gripping 1-1 draw with Caloundra, with Zaidyn scoring from a corner and the Ospreys narrowly missing some chances to win.
Finally, we played Talara with a convincing 3-0 win. Goals from Sam, Cohen and what can only be described as a 'worldy' from Jimmy.
A special mention goes to Leonard who filled in as goal keeper and made some fantastic saves.
The Ospreys finished 2nd overall to eventual winners, Mooloolaba.
Congratulations to all the boys for their efforts and behaviour on the day. Although we didn't quite make it to the next stage, I was very proud of the boys in their effort and behaviour. We were the winners of the best looking team though with our brand new playing kit.
The future of football at Currimundi is bright!

WAVE BREAK TUCKSHOP | FOOD NEWS
REMINDER Food cut off time is

Food orders are ONLINE ONLY using Munchmonitor.
We are nearly at the end of term which means you may be finding it harder to get inspiration to pack those lunch boxes!
Never fear - We have revamped our Wave Break Tuckshop menu and now have a favourite on each day of the week.
Check out our new menu and make sure you get those orders in by 8:00am.

If you are yet to create a Munch Monitor account and would like help setting one up, either follow the steps below or feel free to get in touch with our Tuckshop staff.

Volunteers
If you are interested in giving us a hand,
please click the link https://signup.com/go/TtjboHh to "Sign up"
or email currimundi.ss.tuckshop@gmail.com. 🙏
Our Volunteers make all the difference in getting our Curra Kids food prepared and served and we are always looking for more help.
As I’m sure you’ve seen or heard, we are always looking for new people to come in and check out what we do as well as give us a hand in feeding our hungry Curra Kids. In order to make all of the lunches for our kids and get them out on time, we rely heavily on our community and those that can volunteer their time.
It’s really easy, you don’t need experience working in a kitchen!
If you can make a sandwich - then you’re all set!
Some of the things we need help with include:
Labelling lunch bags - This is a super short job; normally 30-40 mins and you can do this anytime from 8.15am to 9.00am. So perfect to do at school drop off.
It’s simply going through each order and highlighting any ice blocks/ice creams that have been ordered and then sticking the label on a brown lunch bag and sorting them into each Grade.
Prep & Serve Shift - So preparing the food and snacks from the list of orders, making sandwiches and burgers, cutting up fruit, making toasties etc. Then packing all of the items into their brown lunch bags and putting them in their class boxes.
We then serve our Curra Kids ice blocks and snacks at the window for 1st break.
This shift is from 8.45am - 11.30am.
If you’d prefer to just do a single job that doesn't have a set time, we have things like making our Garlic Breads for the week that we always need a hand with!
If you have any spare time during the week, please feel free to get in touch, there is always something to do - and we really appreciate it!
All of our available shifts are listed on our Sign Up page so you can jump on and have a look at what's available if you have some spare time.

YMCA OSHC NEWS
We began to introduce our new clubs this month to peak interest for the upcoming term. The children enjoyed participating in a bongo circle and playing different instruments with Dale in music club while others showed their striking skills in hockey. Keep an eye out for which club comes next! In the sun we have continued with our most popular games of cricket, soccer and touch football to test our little competitive spirits. We have also been working on our green thumbs in the garden working on maintenance to keep the garden beds both pretty and healthy.
The quiet room hasn’t missed out on all the fun though, children have been enjoying their games of chess and bingo while using their imagination skills to play vet surgery and teachers also. We have been working on family identity as we explore different cultures and our family tree – this month we looked at France and got to enjoy some yummy ham and cheese croissants! The fun continued as we made yellow slime for our bee themed program and built new friendships using loom bands and beads to make bracelets for one another.

Thank you, The Y Staff.
